Theses at the chair of ISE

If you are interested in writing your bachelor's, master's thesis with our group, please, consider the following information (independent of whether you plan to write your thesis in cooperation with an external company or not):

  1. If you already have a rough idea of a potential topic: Typically, we will only supervise theses which are at least closely related to our research areas. These will usually be concerned with the development and assessment of cloud-based distributed systems. Send an email from to thesisoffers@ise.tu-berlin.de and sketch out briefly your course specialization, why you seek and supervision of your thesis by ISE.
  2. If you are interested in one of our announced open thesis topics, please contact the group member mentioned in the topic description directly. Please sketch out briefly your course specialization and why you are interested in the topic.
  3. If you are interested in our research areas but have to idea which concrete topic might interest you: Please, do not hesitate to email one of the group's members or send an email from to thesisoffers@ise.tu-berlin.de. Give a short description of your course specialization, why you are interested in our research area and which area in particular. We also encourage to take a look at our announced open thesis topics as well as at our overview of past theses. If you are interested in several research areas at our chair, please send an e-mail from to thesisoffers@ise.tu-berlin.de stating all respective research areas.

Since we often receive inquiries regarding "Theses with a company", please note that you are writing your thesis at the TU Berlin and that the Master's/Bachelor's degree is also awarded by the TU, not by a company. This does not mean that we are not happy to supervise theses in an application context and with partners from (IT) industry. However, in this case your request should contain a concrete scientific question with reference to our teaching and research topics. In this case, you would have to show in a comprehensible way what the state of the art is; what unsolved problems there are that you want to address; show references to related work; and present what novel approach you propose, how you plan to implement it, and how the contribution of your approach could be evaluated.
