Description
The module introduces students to the design, implementation, and assessment of modern, large-scale software systems. A major theme is quality-driven enterprise computing, which includes benchmarking (measurement and comparison) of technical system criteria, such as performance, scalability, data consistency, security, and other, as well as their interplay with economic criteria, in particular, cost of system operation. From a systems perspective emphasis is put on replicated systems, especially NoSQL data management systems and cloud services. The module further introduces students to blockchain technology and blockchains as a new type of platform for decentralized applications. Overall, students gain insights on modern software systems and services architectures as employed in and critical to enterprises and businesses in a variety of application domains.
