Dr.-Ing. Frank Pallas
Diplom-Informatiker
Frank has been a senior researcher and lecturer (tenured) in the ISE research group since September 2015. He holds a diploma and a PhD in computer science, both from TU Berlin. Before joining ISE, he was interim professor at the chair for "Computer Science & Law" at TU Berlin and held senior research positions at KIT's Center for Applied Legal Studies as well as at FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik.
Frank's research and teaching focus is on interdisciplinary aspects of cutting-edge information systems, integrating technological, legal and economic perspectives. Here, a main focus is on privacy engineering for real-world information systems. Further questions of information security, privacy / data protection and the regulatory power of technology are also of particular interest. Beyond this, Frank has a strong record of ELSA (ethical, legal and societal aspects) research in nationally and internationally funded projects and is a regular reviewer for a multitude of conferences and journals as well as for national and international funding agencies.
