Marco Peise
Diplom-Wirtschaftsinformatiker
Marco Peise has been in the ISE research group since October 2015. He holds a diploma in Business Information Systems from the University of Rostock (2007). Before joining ISE, he worked 6 years for IBM Germany and co-founded a startup in 2014.
Marco planned, designed and implemented software solutions at various client engagements. As a IT-Consultant, Mentor, Patentee, Author and Lead-Developer he worked in tandem with scientists, designers, communication professionals and end-users to move ideas and concepts from exploratory fieldwork to live applications which are used by thousands of users now.
Marco’s research focus is on challenges of large-scale and enterprise-ready IoT systems. This includes database concepts specifically tailored to the particularities of IoT environments (e.g. Time-Series / NoSQL databases), API design and API ecosystems and application-level protocols bringing together IoT concepts and web technologies (Pub/Sub- and REST-APIs for IoT etc.) and on access- and usage control mechanisms that explicitly address the challenges raised by the Internet of Things in matters of complexity, distribution, data volume and number of entities.
Furthermore Marco is interested in architectural IoT integration patterns that allow systems engineers to build highly scalable, secure and robust Internet of Things platforms and applications. He also worked on the ISE project opensense.network, a participatory open sensor data platform.
